It depends on the size of your systemโs brine tank, water hardness, and household water usage. Check the brine tank to ensure that you have filled the salt to the appropriate level. Age can play a big role in determining how often salt needs to be added as well. Older systems may need new salt as much as twice a month, whereas new, more efficient water softeners typically need salt added every 6-8 weeks.
